The Dresser brand of heavy equipment such as the rigid haul end dump truck was purchased as a joint venture by Komatsu in 1988. This joint venture also offered Dresser the luxury of slowly but surely disentangling the distribution network and the facilities of its earthmoving business from its other operations. Eventually, in 1992, four years after the joint venture had been established, Dresser spun off its ownership in the joint venture into a separate company called Indresco.
